Today is my Mom's birthday. I won't say how old she is, but I will tell you that she became my Mom when my Father married her 31 1/2 years ago. I was 4 and my brother was 5. She raised me as her own, and although we haven't always seen eye to eye (what family does?) she has been a solid rock in my life. She is a parent to me because she chose to be and she stayed because she chose to stay. Thanks to her, I gained a sister and also lots of extended family. All this because she was born, and then she chose my Dad - and us. So, happy My Mom's Birthday to me.

Happy Your Mom's Birthday to you!
And also, you can thank her and your God-given independent spirit for your "i"

What a sweet post! Happy Birthday Sing 4 Joy's Mom!!
That's a lovely tribute. Reminds me of that Brad Paisley Song "Because he didn't have to be..." Know it? It's about a step dad, but you'll relate I'm sure.
It goes... "When a single mom goes out on a date with someone new, it always winds up being more like a job interview... my mama used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run... I met the man that's now my dad when I was 5 years old... he took my mom out to a movie and for once i got to go... A few months later I remember lying there in bed. I overheard him pop the question and I prayed that she'd say yes. And then, all of a sudden oh it seems so strange to me that we went 'from something's missing' to 'a family' and now all I can say about the man who's standing next to me... is I hope I'm at least half the dad, that he didn't have to be."
ah, makes me cry every time.
I was so blessed to read this, and the lyrics to the Brad Paisley song..
I love how you respect your mom, and how God gave her to you - for such a time as this. He does all things well.
