Still operating on generator power. The electric company is saying that they may have the power back on by late Monday night. Cold showers are awesome. It's getting dark now so we are going to hunker down for the night in the living room with a window a/c unit.
I am feeling pretty selfish and angry at this moment, so you may want to turn your eyes away, or just skip the rest of the post. I just had to say goodbye to my husband who has been deployed to Houston for search and rescue operations. Yes, you read right. My husband had to LEAVE HIS FAMILY and go into HARM'S WAY, in order to find and rescue PEOPLE WHO WERE TOLD TO LEAVE THAT AREA AND DECIDED TO IGNORE THE ORDER.
Thank you very much from Mr. Hero's wife and children who are now without their hero because you didn't feel like evacuating. Awesome. When you see him, tell him I love him.
Obviously I need to get on my knees.

your "selfish" rant is understandable. totally makes me mad on your behalf. will pray for your husband and for your family.
be safe, friend.
grrrr. not fair, not fair. as if anything really was....you should see me when kids don't pledge the flag or get quiet during the moment of silence....mine is gone so they can be foolish...and so we rant. God have mercy on us.
I am sorry, Mrs S4J, but I agree with you 100%!!! That just STINKS! NOT FAIR!!! There, I said it!!! It feels SO wrong that YOUR hubby should have to go, AGAIN!!!
I wholeheartedly agreed with New Orleans' governor, who said that those who did not heed evacuation orders could expect NO rescue or humanitarian efforts, PERIOD!
However, as I too rant ... I guess if we stop to think how Mary felt as Jesus went to the cross for OUR sins ... probably, I should just shut UP and pray too!
I am SO sorry!! People do not have a clue HOW MUCH you and so many of our military families SACRIFICE for THEM!!! I pray for our hero's (C's) safe and soon return to you. And for MUCH grace and peace for you.
I love you, yourmoomis2
Don't even get me started. This irritation is NOTHING compared to the irate hostility I feel towards inhabitants of NOLA who chose to "ride out the storm" and later cried foul and smeared our government for their situation. Now they have the audacity to complain about their inadequate FREE HOUSING.
I'll see you at prayer time then, right?!? haha...
I hear what you are saying. Sorry your man had to come to Texas - hope he is home soon.
I was so frustrated about those who stayed behind as well - especially when they started 911. Hello - why are you still there - it was your choice!!!
Maybe I need to say a prayer as well. Praying for y'all. Glad your electricity is back!
MMMMMMMMM is all I can say. Wow.
