My Savior My God - Maundy Thursday 2009

My goodness but the time flies. We have come again to the time of year when we are looking hopefully and expectantly forward to Easter Sunday. But we cannot jump from the "Hosanna's" of Palm Sunday to the "He is risen's" of Easter. Today we remember Jesus' last meal on earth, the institution of Holy Communion and His betrayal and agony of heart leading to His final moments on earth. I have written about the traditions of this day and my experience through this time of year before, Maundy Thursday 2008 go ahead and get caught up and then come on back here.

Back? Feel all informed now? (I know I did)

Ponder this for a few moments here and as you go about your day.....

Ahhhh, this song. Love, love, love.

I keep wondering if sometimes we have thrown out the baby with the bathwater in the non denom churches- by trying so hard to avoid ceremony, we've lost some of these great traditions that are designed to really focus on the enormity of what God did for us.

Yes, I think the baby and bathwater have both been thrown out in many cases. While the zeal for good Bible study and strong worship experiences exist, there's a loss of the historical liturgies at times. Everyone worships differently, but it's through following the Christian calendar that I've found more of a home. Good discussion. Really great song. It's all about Him.

I have a rehearsal tonight for our GF service. And i've never felt so sad in my heart. yes, filled with hope, too. But sad. It's so hard for me to wrap my mind around this. Our sanctuary will be completely dark at the end of our Tenebrae service tomorrow. I'm looking forward to participating. We've never done this before.

Lurve this song, btw.
